Who's Who

The Ministry Team

Ben Phillips is the vicar of St Michael’s and St Mark’s, he is passionate about seeing God’s kingdom grow in Stanwix and Belah.  Ben is married to Jo and they have three children; Jack, Kate, Tom and a dog called Fred.  Ben and Jo like music, films, food, fell walking and each other.

Ben King is curate to the whole parish with special responsibility as shepherd of St Mark’s.  He’s keen to see the church respond to its God-given call and for all its members to be discipled and empowered through the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Previously he worked in London in a church and as a researcher for an MP. He likes walking and swanning around.

Ruth YoungerRuth Younger is the children's and young people's worker at St Michael's and St Mark's! She is passionate about seeing children and young people grow in faith in Christ and finding fullness of life through knowing Him. Ruth is married to Paul and they have lived in Stanwix since they married in December 2008. Ruth and Paul enjoy playing squash (although Paul always wins), watching dvd's, spending time with friends and going out to Keswick.

Tim Hazard has been a member of St Michael's since marrying Stella in 1966 and has been a Reader for nearly as long.  He is a retired Legal Executive and so enjoys dealing with some of the administration of a busy parish. Tim has two daughters, four grandchildren and a dog.  He enjoys the outdoors is a member of Rotary and is also involved in the Deanery and Diocese.  Did someone say something about retirement?

Rob Cook is a Reader and Operations Manager for Wesley Owen Books & Music.  He has been married to Liz for 31 years and they have  three grown up daughters, four grandchildren, and two cats called Horatio and Cuthbert.  He would like to see the church continue to grow both numerically and in understanding and application of the Christian faith. He likes music, books, cooking, walking.

Trish Barker has recently retired and trained as a reader.  Her immediate 'family' are two Westie Dogs, Meg and Kim.  She hopes to see the Lord continue to add to our numbers, drawing us ever closer together in His love.  She likes walking the dogs, playing music, studying the Bible, good films and a good meal.
